لَاۤ أُقۡسِمُ بِیَوۡمِ ٱلۡقِیَـٰمَةِ ﴿١﴾
I swear by the Day of Resurrection(1)
Tafseer:
وَلَاۤ أُقۡسِمُ بِٱلنَّفۡسِ ٱللَّوَّامَةِ ﴿٢﴾
And I swear by the reproaching soul [to the certainty of resurrection].(2)
Tafseer:
أَیَحۡسَبُ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ أَلَّن نَّجۡمَعَ عِظَامَهُۥ ﴿٣﴾
Does man think that We will not assemble his bones?(3)
Tafseer:
بَلَىٰ قَـٰدِرِینَ عَلَىٰۤ أَن نُّسَوِّیَ بَنَانَهُۥ ﴿٤﴾
Yes. [We are] Able [even] to proportion his fingertips.(4)
Tafseer:
بَلۡ یُرِیدُ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ لِیَفۡجُرَ أَمَامَهُۥ ﴿٥﴾
But man desires to continue in sin.(5)
Tafseer:
یَسۡـَٔلُ أَیَّانَ یَوۡمُ ٱلۡقِیَـٰمَةِ ﴿٦﴾
He asks, "When is the Day of Resurrection?"(6)
Tafseer:
فَإِذَا بَرِقَ ٱلۡبَصَرُ ﴿٧﴾
So when vision is dazzled(7)
Tafseer:
وَخَسَفَ ٱلۡقَمَرُ ﴿٨﴾
And the moon darkens(8)
Tafseer:
وَجُمِعَ ٱلشَّمۡسُ وَٱلۡقَمَرُ ﴿٩﴾
And the sun and the moon are joined,(9)
Tafseer:
یَقُولُ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ یَوۡمَىِٕذٍ أَیۡنَ ٱلۡمَفَرُّ ﴿١٠﴾
Man will say on that Day, "Where is the [place of] escape?"(10)
Tafseer:
كَلَّا لَا وَزَرَ ﴿١١﴾
No! There is no refuge.(11)
Tafseer:
إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ یَوۡمَىِٕذٍ ٱلۡمُسۡتَقَرُّ ﴿١٢﴾
To your Lord, that Day, is the [place of] permanence.(12)
Tafseer:
یُنَبَّؤُاْ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ یَوۡمَىِٕذِۭ بِمَا قَدَّمَ وَأَخَّرَ ﴿١٣﴾
Man will be informed that Day of what he sent ahead and kept back.(13)
Tafseer:
بَلِ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ عَلَىٰ نَفۡسِهِۦ بَصِیرَةࣱ ﴿١٤﴾
Rather, man, against himself, will be a witness,(14)
Tafseer:
وَلَوۡ أَلۡقَىٰ مَعَاذِیرَهُۥ ﴿١٥﴾
Even if he presents his excuses.(15)
Tafseer:
لَا تُحَرِّكۡ بِهِۦ لِسَانَكَ لِتَعۡجَلَ بِهِۦۤ ﴿١٦﴾
Move not your tongue with it, [O Muhammad], to hasten with recitation of the Qur'an.(16)
Tafseer:
إِنَّ عَلَیۡنَا جَمۡعَهُۥ وَقُرۡءَانَهُۥ ﴿١٧﴾
Indeed, upon Us is its collection [in your heart] and [to make possible] its recitation.(17)
Tafseer:
فَإِذَا قَرَأۡنَـٰهُ فَٱتَّبِعۡ قُرۡءَانَهُۥ ﴿١٨﴾
So when We have recited it [through Gabriel], then follow its recitation.(18)
Tafseer:
ثُمَّ إِنَّ عَلَیۡنَا بَیَانَهُۥ ﴿١٩﴾
Then upon Us is its clarification [to you].(19)
Tafseer:
كَلَّا بَلۡ تُحِبُّونَ ٱلۡعَاجِلَةَ ﴿٢٠﴾
No! But you love the immediate(20)
Tafseer:
وَتَذَرُونَ ٱلۡـَٔاخِرَةَ ﴿٢١﴾
And leave the Hereafter.(21)
Tafseer:
وُجُوهࣱ یَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ نَّاضِرَةٌ ﴿٢٢﴾
[Some] faces, that Day, will be radiant,(22)
Tafseer:
إِلَىٰ رَبِّهَا نَاظِرَةࣱ ﴿٢٣﴾
Looking at their Lord.(23)
Tafseer:
وَوُجُوهࣱ یَوۡمَىِٕذِۭ بَاسِرَةࣱ ﴿٢٤﴾
And [some] faces, that Day, will be contorted,(24)
Tafseer:
تَظُنُّ أَن یُفۡعَلَ بِهَا فَاقِرَةࣱ ﴿٢٥﴾
Expecting that there will be done to them [something] backbreaking.(25)
Tafseer:
كَلَّاۤ إِذَا بَلَغَتِ ٱلتَّرَاقِیَ ﴿٢٦﴾
No! When the soul has reached the collar bones(26)
Tafseer:
وَقِیلَ مَنۡۜ رَاقࣲ ﴿٢٧﴾
And it is said, "Who will cure [him]?"(27)
Tafseer:
وَظَنَّ أَنَّهُ ٱلۡفِرَاقُ ﴿٢٨﴾
And the dying one is certain that it is the [time of] separation(28)
Tafseer:
وَٱلۡتَفَّتِ ٱلسَّاقُ بِٱلسَّاقِ ﴿٢٩﴾
And the leg is wound about the leg,(29)
Tafseer:
إِلَىٰ رَبِّكَ یَوۡمَىِٕذٍ ٱلۡمَسَاقُ ﴿٣٠﴾
To your Lord, that Day, will be the procession.(30)
Tafseer:
فَلَا صَدَّقَ وَلَا صَلَّىٰ ﴿٣١﴾
And the disbeliever had not believed, nor had he prayed.(31)
Tafseer:
وَلَـٰكِن كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّىٰ ﴿٣٢﴾
But [instead], he denied and turned away.(32)
Tafseer:
ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ إِلَىٰۤ أَهۡلِهِۦ یَتَمَطَّىٰۤ ﴿٣٣﴾
And then he went to his people, swaggering [in pride].(33)
Tafseer:
أَوۡلَىٰ لَكَ فَأَوۡلَىٰ ﴿٣٤﴾
Woe to you, and woe!(34)
Tafseer:
ثُمَّ أَوۡلَىٰ لَكَ فَأَوۡلَىٰۤ ﴿٣٥﴾
Then woe to you, and woe!(35)
Tafseer:
أَیَحۡسَبُ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ أَن یُتۡرَكَ سُدًى ﴿٣٦﴾
Does man think that he will be left neglected?(36)
Tafseer:
أَلَمۡ یَكُ نُطۡفَةࣰ مِّن مَّنِیࣲّ یُمۡنَىٰ ﴿٣٧﴾
Had he not been a sperm from semen emitted?(37)
Tafseer:
ثُمَّ كَانَ عَلَقَةࣰ فَخَلَقَ فَسَوَّىٰ ﴿٣٨﴾
Then he was a clinging clot, and [Allah] created [his form] and proportioned [him](38)
Tafseer:
فَجَعَلَ مِنۡهُ ٱلزَّوۡجَیۡنِ ٱلذَّكَرَ وَٱلۡأُنثَىٰۤ ﴿٣٩﴾
And made of him two mates, the male and the female.(39)
Tafseer:
أَلَیۡسَ ذَ ٰ⁠لِكَ بِقَـٰدِرٍ عَلَىٰۤ أَن یُحۡـِۧیَ ٱلۡمَوۡتَىٰ ﴿٤٠﴾
Is not that [Creator] Able to give life to the dead?(40)
Tafseer:
