Surah Al-Fajr (The Dawn) - Aya count 30

وَٱلۡفَجۡرِ ﴿١﴾

By the break of Day


Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:

وَلَیَالٍ عَشۡرࣲ ﴿٢﴾

By the Nights twice five;


Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:

وَٱلشَّفۡعِ وَٱلۡوَتۡرِ ﴿٣﴾

By the even and odd (contrasted);


Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:

وَٱلَّیۡلِ إِذَا یَسۡرِ ﴿٤﴾

And by the Night when it passeth away;-


Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:

هَلۡ فِی ذَ ٰ⁠لِكَ قَسَمࣱ لِّذِی حِجۡرٍ ﴿٥﴾

Is there (not) in these an adjuration (or evidence) for those who understand?


Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:

أَلَمۡ تَرَ كَیۡفَ فَعَلَ رَبُّكَ بِعَادٍ ﴿٦﴾

Seest thou not how thy Lord dealt with the 'Ad (people),-


Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:

إِرَمَ ذَاتِ ٱلۡعِمَادِ ﴿٧﴾

Of the (city of) Iram, with lofty pillars,


Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:

ٱلَّتِی لَمۡ یُخۡلَقۡ مِثۡلُهَا فِی ٱلۡبِلَـٰدِ ﴿٨﴾

The like of which were not produced in (all) the land?


Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:

وَثَمُودَ ٱلَّذِینَ جَابُواْ ٱلصَّخۡرَ بِٱلۡوَادِ ﴿٩﴾

And with the Thamud (people), who cut out (huge) rocks in the valley?-


Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:

وَفِرۡعَوۡنَ ذِی ٱلۡأَوۡتَادِ ﴿١٠﴾

And with Pharaoh, lord of stakes?


Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:

ٱلَّذِینَ طَغَوۡاْ فِی ٱلۡبِلَـٰدِ ﴿١١﴾

(All) these transgressed beyond bounds in the lands,


Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:

فَأَكۡثَرُواْ فِیهَا ٱلۡفَسَادَ ﴿١٢﴾

And heaped therein mischief (on mischief).


Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:

فَصَبَّ عَلَیۡهِمۡ رَبُّكَ سَوۡطَ عَذَابٍ ﴿١٣﴾

Therefore did thy Lord pour on them a scourge of diverse chastisements:


Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:

إِنَّ رَبَّكَ لَبِٱلۡمِرۡصَادِ ﴿١٤﴾

For thy Lord is (as a Guardian) on a watch-tower.


Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:

فَأَمَّا ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ إِذَا مَا ٱبۡتَلَىٰهُ رَبُّهُۥ فَأَكۡرَمَهُۥ وَنَعَّمَهُۥ فَیَقُولُ رَبِّیۤ أَكۡرَمَنِ ﴿١٥﴾

Now, as for man, when his Lord trieth him, giving him honour and gifts, then saith he, (puffed up), "My Lord hath honoured me."


Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:

وَأَمَّاۤ إِذَا مَا ٱبۡتَلَىٰهُ فَقَدَرَ عَلَیۡهِ رِزۡقَهُۥ فَیَقُولُ رَبِّیۤ أَهَـٰنَنِ ﴿١٦﴾

But when He trieth him, restricting his subsistence for him, then saith he (in despair), "My Lord hath humiliated me!"


Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:

كَلَّاۖ بَل لَّا تُكۡرِمُونَ ٱلۡیَتِیمَ ﴿١٧﴾

Nay, nay! but ye honour not the orphans!


Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:

وَلَا تَحَـٰۤضُّونَ عَلَىٰ طَعَامِ ٱلۡمِسۡكِینِ ﴿١٨﴾

Nor do ye encourage one another to feed the poor!-


Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:

وَتَأۡكُلُونَ ٱلتُّرَاثَ أَكۡلࣰا لَّمࣰّا ﴿١٩﴾

And ye devour inheritance - all with greed,


Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:

وَتُحِبُّونَ ٱلۡمَالَ حُبࣰّا جَمࣰّا ﴿٢٠﴾

And ye love wealth with inordinate love!


Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:

كَلَّاۤۖ إِذَا دُكَّتِ ٱلۡأَرۡضُ دَكࣰّا دَكࣰّا ﴿٢١﴾

Nay! When the earth is pounded to powder,

وَجَاۤءَ رَبُّكَ وَٱلۡمَلَكُ صَفࣰّا صَفࣰّا ﴿٢٢﴾

And thy Lord cometh, and His angels, rank upon rank,


Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:

وَجِاْیۤءَ یَوۡمَىِٕذِۭ بِجَهَنَّمَۚ یَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ یَتَذَكَّرُ ٱلۡإِنسَـٰنُ وَأَنَّىٰ لَهُ ٱلذِّكۡرَىٰ ﴿٢٣﴾

And Hell, that Day, is brought (face to face),- on that Day will man remember, but how will that remembrance profit him?


Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:

یَقُولُ یَـٰلَیۡتَنِی قَدَّمۡتُ لِحَیَاتِی ﴿٢٤﴾

He will say: "Ah! Would that I had sent forth (good deeds) for (this) my (Future) Life!"


Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:

فَیَوۡمَىِٕذࣲ لَّا یُعَذِّبُ عَذَابَهُۥۤ أَحَدࣱ ﴿٢٥﴾

For, that Day, His Chastisement will be such as none (else) can inflict,


Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:

وَلَا یُوثِقُ وَثَاقَهُۥۤ أَحَدࣱ ﴿٢٦﴾

And His bonds will be such as none (other) can bind.


Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:

یَـٰۤأَیَّتُهَا ٱلنَّفۡسُ ٱلۡمُطۡمَىِٕنَّةُ ﴿٢٧﴾

(To the righteous soul will be said:) "O (thou) soul, in (complete) rest and satisfaction!


Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:

ٱرۡجِعِیۤ إِلَىٰ رَبِّكِ رَاضِیَةࣰ مَّرۡضِیَّةࣰ ﴿٢٨﴾

"Come back thou to thy Lord,- well pleased (thyself), and well-pleasing unto Him!


Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:

فَٱدۡخُلِی فِی عِبَـٰدِی ﴿٢٩﴾

"Enter thou, then, among My devotees!


Arabic explanations of the Qur’an:

وَٱدۡخُلِی جَنَّتِی ﴿٣٠﴾

"Yea, enter thou My Heaven!
